Your website has more potential than you think
As an entrepreneur with a true mission, you invest heart and soul in your service. You make a difference in the world, solve important problems and help people get ahead. But does your website exude that passion and expertise?
Unfortunately, I see the same website mistakes recurring in (too) many entrepreneurs who want to make an impact. Mistakes that cause potential customers to click away before they even understand what you can do for them.
The good news? These mistakes can be recognized and solved.

These 3 mistakes I see almost on every website of entrepreneurs with a mission
Mistake 1: Your homepage doesn't tell a clear story
The problem: confusion within 5 seconds
Your homepage is your digital front door. Within five seconds, visitors should be able to answer three crucial questions:
Who are you here for?
What problem are you solving?
How do you tackle it?
Too often I see homepages full of jargon, vague mission statements or general text that doesn't appeal to anyone. Visitors who don't get an answer to their question "am I in the right place here?" within those first few seconds click through to the next option.
The solution: crystal clear message
A strong homepage appeals to one specific target audience with one clear message. For example, instead of "We offer high-quality consulting services," write "We help sustainable startups find their first 100 clients."
Specific, to the point and immediately clear to whom it is intended. Read this blog for more specific tips.
Mistake 2: Your website has no purpose
The problem: not focused on conversion
A beautiful Web site that does not provoke action is like a beautiful storefront with no opening hours on the door. Visitors look, find it interesting, but don't know what the next step is.
Many business owners forget to give their website a clear pathway:
No prominent action buttons
No logical sequence of information
No clear path to contact or sign-up
The solution: focus on one main action
Every page on your website should lead visitors to one main action. Whether that's requesting a quote, booking an introductory meeting or downloading a free ebook.
Make this action unmistakably visible and repeat the invitation at strategic moments during your visitor's journey.
Mistake 3: Content imbalance
The problem: too much or too little information
On the one hand, you see Web sites that are more like encyclopedias. Pages full of text in which the essence drowns. On the other hand, you find websites that are so minimalist that visitors have no idea what to expect. Neither extreme works.
The solution: finding the right balance
Effective Web site content combines three elements:
Relevant information: enough detail to build trust and answer questions, but not so much that the main message disappears.
Trust: testimonials, case studies, certifications or other evidence that you are the right person for the job.
Action: clear invitations to take the next step, strategically placed through your content.
Recognizing these mistakes is the beginning
The beauty of these three common website problems is that they are all solvable. With the right strategy, you can transform a website that deters visitors into a platform that empowers your mission and attracts new customers.
The first step is taking an honest look at your current website: do you recognize yourself in one or more of these mistakes?
